Iranian ‘Passengers’ to go to Brussels

Iranian documentary ‘Passengers’, directed by Mahmud Rahmani, has been scheduled to go on screen at the Millenium International Documentary Film Festival in Belgium.

The Iranian flick is set to vie in the Young Vision Competition of the event, which is slated to be held in Brussels from March 24 to April 2.

The documentary details the story of Rahmani, who is a taxi driver in the southern Iranian city of Ahwaz. He presents an image of society and collects different people’s stories by means of conversations in the taxi.

For him, all the people and words turn his taxi into a small box in which real stories, expectations and pains are expressed freely without any self-censorship.

Born in 1980, Mahmoud Rahmani made his first short film ‘Gagola’ in 2003. He has an honorary degree from Workshop of DEFC and teaches filmmaking in schools.

In 2005, he directed his first documentary, which attended various film festivals such as IDFA and Cinema du Reel. His documentaries ‘Zero Degree Orbit’ and ‘Oak’ among the others have received more than 15 prizes both at national and international events.

Launched in 2009, the Millenium Festival is organized by Diogène ASBL, which has 23 years of experience in the production of documentary films both in Belgium and abroad.

It has produced numerous films in collaboration with international institutions and NGOs and organized many cultural and social events in Europe, whilst supervising and following the work of filmmakers around the world.
